Welcome to Zilant Pottery
I'm Regina Kutuzova, a potter blending my Tatar heritage and Oklahoma-living experience to create handmade pottery.
Regina Kutuzova
I'm delighted to share a bit about myself. I was born in Kazan, Russia, a vibrant city rich in history and culture, particularly known for its Tatar heritage. My journey has taken me across continents, and today, I find my home in the beautiful state of Oklahoma, USA.
I moved to the U.S. after I had the incredible opportunity to participate in an exclusive exchange program at the University of Arkansas. It was during my time here that I met my wonderful husband, which sealed my decision to make this country my home.
As a mom, I cherish the moments of creativity and inspiration that arise during my daughter's nap time. It’s in these quiet hours that I immerse myself in the art of pottery, working from the cozy little home studio we've built in a shed next to our house. This space is a sanctuary of creativity where I bring my ideas to life. With a master's degree in French literature, I have dedicated a portion of my career to teaching others the beauty of the French language. Throughout my life, I've had the pleasure of learning five languages, which has deepened my understanding of different cultures and traditions.
In my pottery, I aim to honor my Tatar heritage, creating pieces that resonate with my cultural identity. This connection to my ancestry is further embodied in the name of my pottery venture, Zilant Pottery. The word "Zilant" refers to a legendary creature in Tatar folklore, symbolizing strength and resilience, qualities I strive to encapsulate in my work.
Through each piece I shape, I aim to celebrate my journey, my family, and the rich tapestry of cultures that have shaped who I am today. I look forward to sharing my creations with you and inviting you into my world of art and expression.
